My Students
I currently work in a Title I school in Gwinnett County, Georgia. I have 24 wonderful 1st graders! They are eager to learn and come to school daily with excitement. Well my students love to learn we live in an area where the majority of my students struggle to bring in school supplies or provide them due to their home life situations. The majority of my students are Spanish speaking or come from a home where English is the second language. As well a lot of my students receive free or reduced lunch prices due to their income.
These challenges do not stop my student from wanting to learn more and continue to be eager daily to learn more information.
I recent events with the climate change in the country, a lot of my students have to think about their parents and other family members being deported. My goal at school is to create a fun, loving, and safe environment for my students.
My Project
I am currently a first grade teacher and I have been looking into flexible seating for the upcoming school year! After doing research and looking at a variety of different classrooms I am excited to start implementing flexible seating into my classroom. My goal is to create an environment that my students are comfortable in. As an adult I know that I do not like to stay in the same spot all day an I think that it is crazy to expect 6-7 year old to do the same.
My goal with this project is to allow my students a variety of different sitting options in our classroom.
I believe that in doing so I will be able to keep my students actively engaged and behavior to a minimum.
