My students need flexible seating arrangements in my classroom. This helps with keeping them focused and giving them chances to move in an appropriate way for the classroom.
My school is a Title 1 School. 75% of our population of students are in households that are at or below the poverty level.
I am a Specific Learning Disabilities teacher and try to find more engaging and interactive ways to teach my students.
With the diverse disabilities in my classroom students need to have ways to move and focus in the classroom that is different than your typical classroom. I work with high functioning students who see me for specific, targeted subject areas.
My Project
Students with ADHD and other disabilities need to have a way to move their bodies. This makes sitting in class very difficult. Many of my students need to have a productive way to exert their energy.
These students often get frustrated in school because they cannot perform in the traditional way a teacher wants them.
I would like to experiment different forms of flexible seating so they can find new ways to be successful in a classroom setting. I work closely with their other teachers to help them find new ways to accommodate these students and all students on our campus.
