Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I will be teaching a group of 33 fifth graders in Richmond, California.
My students are brilliant, funny, loving, and creative.
However, because they attend a Title I school with 100% free lunch in a low-income area, they do not have all of the tools that they need to be successful in the classroom.
By donating to my classroom, you will ensure that my students are able to learn and flourish both inside of the classroom and out. Thank you!
My Project
Last year, I noticed that students often had trouble sitting still in their chairs. I would assign engaging, interesting material, but after a while, I would see students tapping their feet and pencils, leaning back in their chairs, and becoming otherwise distracted.
Students need choice in the classroom so that they take ownership of their school experience.
I want to give them a voice and a choice within the classroom. Part of that includes choosing seats that help them learn best. Help me buy them wobble chairs and fidget rubber bands so that they can engage their bodies while learning.
I am also looking to purchase a classroom set of colored pencils as well as a connector so that I can display my iPad on the class projector for teaching purposes.
