I teach 3rd grade at a small southwest Virginia school. Our school is a Title I school in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Many of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many also come from single parent homes, or even live with grandparents. Growing up in this area, I learned firsthand that poverty was a true problem and only you yourself can change your outcome in life. I watch struggling students every day and hope to be able to teach them that they too can work hard and reach any dream!
My Project
I have created this project requesting take-anywhere seats, bouncy bands, and clipboards. The take-anywhere seats will give my students more options for sitting and working throughout the room. I am trying to move my classroom towards more of a flexible-seating setup.
With these added options, my students would be able to sit around the room with clipboards, allowing them the opportunity to see completing work as a fun activity.
I have added a classroom set of clipboards as well as 3 comfy floor seats. I have also added a classroom set of stretchy-wiggle bands to put on the chair bottoms so my students can bounce their feet on them if they prefer while they are learning in class. I have some definite wiggle-worms in my room this year, and I know they would benefit from these! I can already imagine how excited my students would be if they were to find out this project was funded.
