Flexible Seating Helps Make Reading Fun!

Help me give my students a flexible classroom environment. I am requesting an easel and flexible seating for my teacher led reading groups.

My Students

Students in my first grade classroom love learning. They come to school ready to be engaged. Our school serves kids in various economic situations. My firsties are always ready to try new things.

While they love hands-on learning, some of my kids don't always get the same opportunities at home that other students have.

My firsties love technology, reading books, and singing songs with me. They need access to materials and equipment that other students from higher income households take for granted.

My Project

We work in small group centers for reading class every day. During this time, there are many activities going on including, from team centers to a teacher led reading group.

Students in my reading groups are more engaged when they have the ability to move around more freely.

Wobbler chairs allow them to stay engaged while remaining at the table. The easel will be used to organize my groups as well as a center for the kids to work on. This will also give me the final few chairs to complete my classroom set. Making reading more entertaining allows them to retain more and do better on our tests.
