My Students
I teach in a high-poverty school in the Lowcountry, and a vast majority of our students are English Language Learners. I want to create a space that feels like home for my students and allows for them to learn and work with flexible seating. With students of various backgrounds and cultures, I believe that a classroom should be comfortable and relaxed: “Home Sweet Classroom.” Providing more flexible seating options allows me to cater to each child’s individual learning needs and create a space that feels like their own.
My Project
My students love our flexible seating options this far, but we would like more! Yoga balls, desk bands, camping chairs, and wobble seats will allow for us to “get out wiggles out” while still being enaged in learning. Many students need to move while learning, and these new options will help us do just that! We plan to add these options to our current carpets, lap desks, pillows, and standing desks. Giving to this project will help my student activate learning through seat that move with us and comfortable camping chairs. Students have been requesteing more options, so please consider helping us.
