Our school is in a high poverty area of Southern Indiana, where the schools are the center of the town. Our schools utilize every resource available to ensure that students have what they need to succeed. We thrive in a 1:1 device classroom, and collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication are the center of every project we complete. The goal for each student is to enjoy learning.
My Project
Next school year, I will be switching my teaching assignment from kindergarten to fifth grade. While this is a huge change in my teaching assignment, I am very excited to explore this new opportunity.
In my new classroom, I want to provide my students with a relaxing, comfortable environment.
This classroom transformation will provide the ultimate learning experience for my students. Research supports flexible seating in classrooms, and in particular, I want my classroom to have a "coffee shop" feel.
The materials for this project include a futon, where students can comfortably sit while they work in a collaborative environment, as well as four Wobble Stools made just for preteens. These stools provide students seating where they can "wobble" and also stabilize their core muscles, which has been proven to support student attentiveness and success in the classroom.
