My students need flexible seating. At such a young age with the excitement of learning bubbling up, sitting in traditional chairs can be difficult for some students.
Our class is a Dual Language Spanish/English Kindergarten made up of young language learners.
As young learners our brains are sponges that absorb language at lightning speed. Our bodies are full of movement and energy ready to learn through various educational experiences. We are a unique class because we learn in two languages. Some of my students are learning Spanish for the first time, while others are beginning to learning English.
In our class we celebrate a love of learning two languages and a multicultural environment.
We enjoy exploring language in a various ways to include all kinds of learners. Whether we are outside or in the classroom, we love to sing, play games, and learn through real life experiences in both languages. My students are young learners exploring the world through a linguistically diverse lens. As they develop their language, social-emotional, physical, and academic skills we celebrate their growths each step of the way!
My Project
The use of flexible seating in Kindergarten is essential. At such a young age it can become difficult to sit still in traditional seating at tables or even on a rug. With the various options of seating students can stay more focused during whole group and individual learning experiences. The options flexible seating provides to my students will enhance their learning experiences.
Flexible seating allows young learners to find their best spot to become comfortable and stay focused throughout the lessons.
By donating to this project I will be able to create an environment where my students can make a choice of seating. They can channel physical energy while sitting by rocking, leaning, or bouncing without being disruptive. I am requesting bouncy bands for their feet to move, and stools along with beanbag seats.
Kindergartners are full of energy and it is equally important to tend to their physical needs as to their cognitive development. As an educator of these young students, I have done research, as well as witnessed the need for flexible seating. With your donation I can come closer to providing an environment where the whole students needs are fully met.
