My Students
My classroom is made up of 22 amazing students, all with different learning styles. My philosophy as a teacher is personalized, collaborative learning. In order for students to maximize their learning, I believe that they should have a flexible learning environment. My students thrive when they have opportunities to collaborate with peers. Flexible seating will allow students to work in different areas of the room with a partner. For this reason, I am asking for donations to fund flexible seating in my classroom.
My Project
Flexible seating is a great way for learners to be in charge of their learning process. In a first grade classroom flexible seating allows students to still move around and still learn without being attached to a desk all day. My students learning is maximized when they are able to move around the room as well as engage in hands-on learning. I would like to have flexible seating materials inside of my classroom, so students can take their learning outside of a desk and chair. The flexible seating will also encourage partner and group collaboration. I will also use the flexible seating for differentiation lessons.
I selected seats that would allow students to easily expand their work environment in the classroom.
My classroom theme is camping, which is why I selected the soft and safe tree seat. These seats will be excellent for partner phonics reading. The soft seats will be used for individual work, which allows students to select a spot in the room that they can be the most productive. The comfy floor seats are a great option for students when they have independent reading time.
