My students are innovative, thoughtful, and eager to learn! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
Our school is located in the outskirts of the D.C. Metro area. Many families in our area commute into the city, leaving little time to work with their children after school.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they can choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are choosing to work at different tables in regular chairs or sitting on the floor with clipboards. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools will allow movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed!
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
