Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Kindergarten teacher wanting to incorporate flexible seating into my classroom for my diverse student population.
My children come from all walks of life and I want them to be able to come to school and feel at home with how and where they learn. Many of our students come from Mexico and other parts of the world as far as Central, South America, and Europe. Many, if not most, receive reduced and free lunch in our school district.
These students need to come to a classroom where they feel safe, connected, and comfortable to participate and learn together. Some of our students do not have the space for their own learning at home. If I can provide that in school, that will be something special to them.
My Project
These materials will bring back the uniqueness and powerful experience that is Kindergarten. When most of our students come to school Kindergarten is their very first school experience. I want to make it as smooth and accommodating as possible.
Flexible seating will provide the students a chance to relieve their wiggles and yet still maintaining focus on what they need to learn and know to grow!
I would like the wobble chairs for their purpose of wiggling and moving around while still sitting and getting their work done. The soft seats are nice because they can sit on the floor with them or put it on a chair. It help them with their core strength as well as giving them more cushion to their seating and posture while working.
Being able to learn where they are most comfortable and engaged is most important for the students. These pieces of furniture will help them sit comfortably, wiggle in their seats, and be properly supported.
