I teach Kindergarten through Sixth Grade social emotional learning in a small school nestled at the base of Mount Ascutney in Vermont. Our students come with a wide range of needs. In my class my students focus on peer relationships, emotional regulation, deal with conflict, etc.
In teaching students Social Emotional Learning, I would like to make our space comfortable and accessible to all of our students.
Thus I am looking for funding to help support flexible seating in our shared room. An example of flexible seating would be bean bag chairs, papasan chair(s) etc. I would like to get away from standard school chairs if possible.
My Project
With the gracious addition of the ball chairs to our room, our students have been able to focus more as well as enjoy their class time. However, there is still a need to add more flexible seating to our classroom, which has been christened the Tree House.
What child does not love having options of where to sit and where to complete different projects?
I know the students that I work with do. The ball chairs have been a huge hit! These bean bags and other seating options would help take our inclusion of all of our students to the next level and give them even more options. Won't you help us continue to make the Tree House a warm and inviting space for all the students of ABS?
