Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students at Mary Hull are stronger than I'll ever know. Mary Hull is a high poverty school, 96% low socio-economic. Many come to school with heavy loads on their backs from their home life. Despite this, they are always ready to learn.
My classroom is an inclusion room, we have both students with special needs and general education students working in collaboration with each other.
We embrace differences, different backgrounds, different needs, different cultures-and all together we make a Hull family. We support, encourage, and love each other every single day!
My Project
The purpose of flexible seating is to give my students the power of choice. They should be comfortable and ready to learn. For many, sitting at a desk for 6+ hours a day is tough. When I ask students to choose a “smart spot”, they will know what is expected of them. Wobbly chairs and balance balls allow students the options to choose.
When my student feel like they cannot focus or that need to move, they will have the means to do so!
Flexible seating will strengthen their concept and understanding of what both concentration and productivity should look like.
