Ms. Bailey from Houston TX is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need wobble stools and flexible seat cushions that would allow them to focus their energy in a positive way.

My little Busy Bees are a bunch of five-year-old sponges that absorb anything that is thrown their way. For some, the only schooling these young minds receive is in the seven and a half hours that I have with them each day. I want to be able to set the foundation for future learning in my students, but my classroom is very limited in the resources that are available. Many of my students were highly affected by Hurricane Harvey, yet they still manage to come to school excited and eager to learn everyday. Due to Hurricane Harvey, some of my students are displaced and are living in foster care, are living in shelters or are being raised by their grandparents, or are living with older siblings and other relatives. Others are in households where the parents are young parents themselves and are high school drop-outs.
One of the goals for my "hive" is to provide a comfortable classroom setting in which my little Busy Bees would be able to promote a sense of well-being, keeping their minds focused, limiting distractions, and allowing for productivity. In our traditional classroom, my students are expected to sit at standard rectangular tables and chairs while they are learning and completing independent workstation activities. This type of seating is not the most beneficial for my young students nor does it cater to the needs of my ADHD and ADD students who are active and need to move. My overly active students will need to be more comfortable and it would be awesome if they had a choice to choose where they work and sit. Having the opportunity to sit on a wobble stool or soft cushion will allow my Busy Bees with extra energy to move without distractions to others while completing tasks.
Creating a flexible seating environment for my students will give them the power to choose where they sit and learn best.
Giving my students the choice to sit on wobble stools and flexible soft cushions will allow my Busy Bees to stay focused longer. This will benefit their learning and increase the growth they make academically and emotionally throughout the year. Please help me brighten the eyes of my little Busy Bees by bringing flexible seating options into our hive!
