Help me give my students alternative seating that will give students the opportunity to choose seating best suits their learning.

I teach very bright and enthusiastic fifth graders. I serve a Title 1 school in an urban community, where 100% of my students receive free lunch. They enjoy exploring the world through the eyes of the characters and figures in stories we read daily. My scholars love read aloud books, novel studies, hands-on projects and arts-integrated activities. I hope to increase their love for independent reading. Our ultimate goal is to prepare our students to be critical thinkers and lifetime learners as they move forward in their academic careers.
Every day we are working to increase rigor, student engagement, and foster a love for reading, math, science, and social studies.
Excellence truly begins with us and we want to provide the best for our scholars.
Long gone are the days of sitting in rows as the teacher delivers the lesson at the front of the room. Traditionally students spend the bulk of their day sitting in hard, uncomfortable desks. My goal with this project is to provide them a variety of options of seating. Research shows that student learning environments have a direct affect on their success. If they are comfortable in their space, achievement will improve.
By providing students flexibility they take ownership of their learning.
I have asked for a 2-chair table set for my students who work optimally in smaller group or independent settings, an area rug for students who would like to sit on the floor, lap desks, and stackable stools. This project will be the launch pad for flexible seating and flipped classroom learning. Fulfilling this project will aid in my students engagement and focus throughout our school day.
