Help me give my students alternative seating such as stools, lap desks, and balance balls to replace classroom desks. This is the biggest ask for students at my school.
My students live in a small community in Southern Indiana. A lot of our students come from rural areas and although we are close to the cultural diversity of a college town my students are fairly isolated to practices from around the world. I have taught math, social studies, and personal finance.
My students are passionate about choice in their education and enjoy flexible seating options, project-based learning, and engaging activities that challenge them to think critically about the learning objectives.
My Project
These materials will allow my students to have a choice each day where they sit. My students are looking for any alternative to classroom desks. With these materials, I will be able to move completely away from desks to allow my students to work collaboratively in a more open space. This arrangement will create a better environment for project-based learning and group work. Classroom tables are expensive so I am going to request the school to purchase those.
