Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classrooms have been diverse in all aspects of learning and academic strengths/challenges, attention levels, ethnicity, financial and family backgrounds. I encourage learning independence, self confidence and awareness through student choice. This includes student seating. By giving students choices, I believe that they learn to take responsibility and accountability for their decisions, as well as learn what works best for their learning. This allows students to feel more comfortable in taking academic risks and further growing their little minds.
Studies have shown that flexible seating such as bouncy seats, standing desks, rocking chairs, etc.
With an awesome group of students, many of which need constant movement, these seating tools will greatly increase their attention span and frustration levels. Any donation is greatly appreciated by me, my students and their families.
My Project
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. This will benefit all my students.
Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable.
This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
