Our school is the smallest elementary in our growing town. It is a close knit community where students, parents, and community feel welcome. The staff at our school is close knit professionally and personally. We call ourselves family.
As a Title One school, our students come from varied backgrounds.
We have many families who struggle to make ends meet. School is a place where we strive to help all feel accepted and successful. Our students are creative, friendly and eager to learn.
We have Pre-K through fifth grade in our building. In fifth grade my teaching partner and I coordinate to teach all subjects. For part of the day we each have our own students, then switch for social studies and science. For math and language arts we team teach giving the students the benefit of having two teachers for these subjects.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to find a spot in the classroom that allows for personal comfort and concentration. Tall tables with stools allow kids to stand or sit as they feel the need. Balance balls and floor seating allow kids movement during lessons and work time without disrupting their leaning or the learning of others.
One size does not fit all in education!
Allowing for students to find seating to maximize learning is essential. Traditional desks and chairs work for some and not for others. By having a variety of seating available, students enjoy having choice and flexibility in their learning environment.
