My students need flexible seating options, such as comfortable pillows and wiggle seats. They have so much energy to release, and moving around and sitting in different areas helps them learn!
My classroom has 16 scholars with various disabilities (i.e. Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Other Health Impairments.) I teach on a military base where there is high mobility rates. We have a mild to moderate special education program at our school. Our students are in the general education classroom and receive special education services in my classroom.
My students come from all the corners of the world.
They have parents who are deployed in dangerous areas around the world. These students come from military bases around the world. Regardless of the differences, my students are eager to learn. No matter what learning disability impacts them, they show resilience and diligence.
My students have an immense desire to learn and become the best version of themselves! They love learning and always come to school ready with grit and resilience.
My Project
I am looking for donations of wiggle seat chairs and floor cushions so that I can provide flexible seating in my classroom. Flexible seating will give my students a choice of what kind of learning space works best for them. It will help them to work collaboratively, improve communication and engage in critical thinking. Studies have shown that flexible seating improves grades, student engagement and all-around mood.
I believe that a comfortable learning environment will promote focus and work productivity.
Many of my students have difficulty accessing their learning due various obstacles they face daily. I want them to be able to have a space that is warm, quiet and conducive to learning.
Thank you so much for considering donating to my classroom!
