“Readers are Leaders.” I teach Language Arts and Social Studies to my students. I have two classes, each with about 22 students. I promote reading by allowing lots of independent reading time for my students. One of my biggest modes of teaching is through small group in my ELA classes. This coming school year I would like to focus more on longer small group times, and seeing students more frequently. This means that my students learn through cooperative learning experiences often. They work together, work with me and they work independently. I encourage my students to read books that interest them, and really focus on using our weekly strategies to become better readers.
My students come from all walks of life.
I teach students who speak English, as well as those who don’t. We have a very diverse group of children at our school and my classroom is no different. I truly love each one of them and I want them to love learning each day in my class!
My Project
I am so excited to offer new seating for my students. The variety that I am able to choose from will meet the needs of all students whether they just enjoy a different seat than normal or whether they really need to move in order to be their best learner! The wobble chairs and cushions will address the needs of students who like to move while they work, read, and learn. The balance ball will be a way for students to bounce and will be another way to meet the needs of students who like to move throughout the day. The bean bag seats and floor seats will allow students to work or read around the room comfortably. I also love the idea of the lap desks for student work. These will be able to address students who need flexible seating for test taking or regular work throughout the year. I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces when they walk into the classroom on the day these new seats come in! Reading and working around the room is such an enjoyable way for my students to learn and I know with your help we can meet the needs of these children, and allow their love for learning to grow.
