My students need flexible seating to meet their physical need for movement and sensory. The exercise balls and chairs will help my students get the movement they need inside the classroom setting, while they learn!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As educators we are firm believers in keeping a focus on what is important: our students! Our classroom environments should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. our special education students learn best by seeing, touching, and experiencing tangible objects. Instruction has to be highly modified and interactive to meet their learning needs.
Our school is in a low socioeconomic area where 60% of the population is in poverty.
It is our goal to redesign our classrooms to meet the learning and physical needs of our students with moderate to severe disabilities. Thus, we are moving towards providing our students with flexible seating.
My Project
My students have moderate to severe disabilities that requires them to have special seating to meet the needs of sensory and movement. By changing the regular classroom seats to a flexible seating environment, my students will have the opportunity to sit and move in place while remaining focused in learning. Flexible seating will give them a variety of seating options with the flexibility of moment and sensory /energy release options while inside the classroom setting.
With flexible seating my students have a choice of where to sit down to ease their comfort of space/sensory need.
Flexible seating is specially helpful for children with ADHD. In addition flexible seating makes learning fun and enhances students attitude toward learning.
