My students are inquisitive, eager learners! They are a true team and learn well in the workshop environment in my classroom.
Their passion for learning is contagious and their willingness to support one another helps create a safe place for all to take risks in their journey to understanding.
Each child in my classroom has their own unique style of learning, but faces the challenges of living in a rural, low-income area. Despite the challenges, they enter the classroom each day with a positive outlook and readiness to engage in learning.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my students to use choice and self regulation in order to find a space in the classroom that is most comfortable for them to work. I currently have a few rocker chairs and cushions for students and they absolutely love to use them to get the job done.
When I encourage students to use choice to find a comfortable work space, their productivity and engagement increases.
Students feel more invested in their space and learning when they are able to make choices and feel at home.
The products I have selected will help my students feel at home and empowered to take charge of their own learning. Each product is portable and will work well for my students. The wobble seats will be a great tool for students who feel most comfortable when they are wiggling. The foldable floor seats will work well with limited storage, as well as provide a supportive back for students choosing to work on the floor. I know students will enjoy using the cushions to partner read and work on their Daily 5.
Providing choice is key for student investment in learning and I just know that having additional options for comfortable seating will help my students become empowered learners. Thank you for considering our project!
