Flexible Seating for Second Grade Writing, Math and Reading!
My students need different seating options for our classroom. Portable surf desks and comfortable floor seats with back rests will provide flexible seating choices and versatile work surfaces for writing, math games, reading and collaboration.
My students are in second grade. They are respectful, inquisitive learners who have a passion for reading, science experiments, solving problems, and using their imaginations. They are a wonderful, caring, empathetic group. I am a proud teacher in a small rural public school serving 200 students.
I have always believed that the environments teachers create in their classrooms have an impact on their students’ ability to learn.
I continually strive to provide an equitable experience for all students. My students attend school regularly because parents care about education and the support of their school and teachers. Students in my class are happy and respectful. We are a classroom community with great character that is exhibited through their actions towards each other and staff at our school.
It’s easy to accept the idea that children who attend comfortable, clean, and well-maintained schools have an easier time succeeding than those who don’t. I will continue my quest to make our classroom a place where kids feel safe, comfortable, engaged and challenged.

Flexible seating allows my students to take charge of their learning environment and make seating choices that work best for them.
It's important to have several portable, fun and comfortable seating options within the classroom like Surf desks, and comfortable floor seats.
Making sure students have comfortable choices at school plays an essential roll in motivating learners. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given choices in their seating. They learn to pick the best options for their working space, are more engaged and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desks. Our goal is to have enough seating options for everyone in the classroom. With this project, and the seating options I have purchased already, we will have enough choices for the entire class.
