Teaching first grade is my passion. Some of my first graders, unfortunately, come from challenging backgrounds with things no child should ever encounter. Many students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Some come to school in the dead of winter with no hats or mittens. No matter what their situation is at home, my first graders are still so eager and excited to learn new things. They all deserve the best education and that is my ultimate goal each and every day.
My Project
During Reader's Workshop, readers get to choose a cozy spot around the room to get lost in their books and practice their reading strategies. Students find spaces on the floor, in cubbies, and some choose to read at their seats.
Your donation will give students some fun options to choose from when finding a spot to read.
The brightly colored stools will be perfect for those who like to read at their seats. The comfy floor seats will be a hit for the readers who enjoy being on the floor.
A variety of nonfiction books are also included in this project for my lower-leveled readers. These readers will get to learn about fun, new topics such as horses, the beach, rain, and many more. With your donation, Reader's Workshop will be a blast!
