I am a 4th grade teacher raising money to provide my 33 students with flexible seating so that they have a more fluid and flexible learning environment. This would allow a variety of seating for different learners, and would improve their own self-awareness in discovering what works best to keep them focused. It would also allow for easier group work during in-class discussions and projects.
I have been teaching for four years and have had so many students who need alternate seating arrangements to help them remain calm and focused.
Flexible seating would breathe new life into my classroom and bring new energy to my students daily lives. We would greatly appreciate your help! My students are a large and sweet group of nine and ten year olds. They are mostly socio-economically disadvantaged kids but they are smart, tenacious, lively and creative!
New and diverse seating will allow my students to thrive and grow as learners! They will find different ways to be as they continue to work together and grow their brains while choosing exactly where and what type of seating works best for them. I chose low seats, cushions and wobble stools to keep even the most active learner moving. This seating will also allow them the chance to learn what works best for them; a skill that can take them further in their education! It will also allow them more opportunities to work on group projects together and discussions together by allowing small groups to sit or stand together to collaborate. This will greatly enhance their learning!
