My Students
"The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read" - Mark Twain Every day we work towards becoming active engaged readers through book shares, independent reading and small group literacy instruction.
For many of my students, school is the place where they develop their curiosities.
Together we spend the year immersing ourselves in hands on learning. We have a focus on real world application. My goal every school year is to not only teach my students the basic skills needed to be successful in school but also how to find the passion that is needed to be successful in life!
My Project
My students need flexible seating options. When you curl up with a good book at home, most people are in bed or lounging on their couch. Yet at school we ask students to sit up straight at a desk and read independently. While this works for some, it does not work for all! I'm asking for help giving students options for reading spaces that work for them.
Your donations will help my students have choice in their reading spots.
With these supplies they will be able to determine for themselves if they prefer to read at their desk, to lounge in a bean bag chair or to lean up against a reading pillow. By allowing some flexibility in their seating, I will better be able to meet the needs of every learner in my classroom.
