My class consists of 18 amazing third graders. We belong to a small school community with a high number of families in need. Although some of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and encounter daily struggles outside of school, they still come to school eager and ready to learn.
Together, we have built a strong classroom community, where my students are excited to learn and grow together.
We take the time to understand and celebrate each other's differences and help support each other.
My Project
This year I am implementing personalized learning in my classroom. One component of personalized learning is flexible seating. Flexible seating replaces traditional classroom seating with varied seating options for students.
My hope is that flexible seating will empower my students with choice in their learning environment.
Many types of flexible seating, the stability discs for example, allow students who crave movement, the ability to move during class. I have some students who would really benefit from more movement incorporated into their day. The lap desks and floor chairs are two options that give my students the ability to work in a preferred location around the room.
By contributing to my project you will be helping my students grow as learners in an environment that is best suited to their needs.
