Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love teaching my small group of students and making a difference in their lives every day! My students come to school energetic and ready to learn every day with a welcoming smile. They enjoy movement and hands-on activities the most. My students are creative and ambitious learners that love to engage in the learning anywhere in our classroom. It is often difficult for them to stay engaged in an uncomfortable chair all day and become a bit fidgety. Environment shapes experience and I would like the opportunity to offer them flexible seating options that will make them more comfortable while they are learning!
We are a two- way dual language campus that serves 93% of students that are economically disadvantaged.
We are a small campus with a focus on PBL and STEM in the classroom; which will help them build on cognitive concepts, real-world authenticity, communication skills, and organizational skills in four specific disciplines.
My Project
Flexible seating will give my students a comfortable learning environment that will contribute to their success. This type of seating arrangement lets students move in their own personal space when they begin to get antsy and disengaged in the learning. Students love to sit in the reading nook of our classroom because of the seat crates. Having the stability balls will create that same enthusiasm during our daily lessons. The soft padded seats are easy to take anywhere around the classroom giving students the opportunity to work independently or in collaboration with others while engaged in the learning. This upcoming school year I will be serving all the dual language first graders on my campus because we lost a first-grade teacher and are combining the two upcoming kinder classes. I will now serve an expected number of 23 students as opposed to 10-13 from previous years. Funding for this project will not only benefit my students for this school year but for future students to come!
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement by offering them freedom of choice and comfort.
