Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach bilingual students in a Title I school, in a high poverty school district. My students love to move around the classroom and experience different corners I have for them to go work whenever they work on stations, in projects, and with partners.
When students are able to do this, they can find the perfect spot in the classroom to be able to concentrate and be comfortable while learning.
When students are able to do this, behavior in the classroom improves.
My Project
I would love to have enough wobbly chairs, yoga balls, and cushion seats for my students to use during the day. I really think students need to be able to choose where to seat and have some movement when they are working in the classroom.
Providing flexible seating to my students will help reduce stress, provide higher ability to concentrate and improve memory retention, and it will help students focus on the activity they are working on.
Physical activity is needed to have a higher academic achievement, better health, and better behavior; and we can give them this by providing flexible seating.
