My students are inquisitive, thoughtful, and active learners. They enjoy learning new content and sharing their learning in a variety of ways. As readers, writers, speakers, and listeners, each day I challenge them to extend their thinking, apply what they have learned, be compassionate to others, and work to be prepared for our 21st century world.
Just as each of my students are unique, their learning styles are unique as well.
Each child brings a different lifestyle, culture, background, and learning style to our classroom each and every day, and I work tirelessly to meet their academic, emotional, and social needs each day. My goal is for each of my students to first feel safe, respected and welcomed in order to be as successful as possible while holding them to high expectations with a rigorous curriculum.
My Project
Providing my students with seating choices such as using Bouncy Bands on their chairs, Wobble Cushions on seats, and Portable Lap Desks around the room, allow them to take more ownership for their learning to figure out what works best for them as they work to fulfill their greatest potential. For example, students can easily take the portable desks anywhere around the room to work either individually or collaboratively in a small group.
Sitting in one place in traditional desks and chairs for much of the day is very difficult for many of my students.
Traditional desks and chairs just don’t always work. For many, working on the floor or in some alternative type of seating is more comfortable and allows them to focus better. I want my classroom to be a place where my students are motivated to do their best work. Giving my students different choices for seating will help my classroom be just that!
