My students need the opportunity to identify when they are working successfully and comfortably. By implementing flexible seating, my students will be able to make these choices and learn what works best for them.
My students are unique, intelligent, kind, and eager to learn! They come to school each day excited to learn new things and share their life experiences with their peers and teachers.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds, which contributes to the beautifully diverse atmosphere of our school.
Around 60% of our students receive free or reduced lunch prices, which is nearly twice the average of our district. Our school strives to provide opportunities that our students may not otherwise have. Our wonderful PTA and surrounding community go above and beyond to support the needs of our students.
My Project
These materials will give my students the opportunity to select the seating option that makes them successful. Like adults, children need the opportunity to find a comfortable way to do their work.
In a portable classroom with 35 students, standard desks and chairs do not fit comfortably.
This is our reality today. Students feel squished and overwhelmed! This way of learning is outdated and is no longer conducive to an engaging learning environment. By placing standard desks in rows, it is difficult to encourage collaboration and problem-solving skills. But, by providing students with a variety of seating choices and opportunities for movement, the classroom becomes a flexible and open space where learning and working together can appropriately take place.
The wobble seats, yoga balls, bands, and lap desks will give my students the ability to choose the learning environment that is right for them!
