Imagine that awe and wonder of coming into the classroom for the first time, meeting your teacher for the first time, making new friends you'll have all through school, and having a "spot" to sit. In kindergarten, these things are BRAND experiences for most of my students as it'll be their first time in a school setting. They say "Kindergarten is where the adventure begins!" I truly believe that - and that's one of the biggest reasons why I LOVE my job!
My students come from diverse financial and academic backgrounds.
Some of my students are English Language Learners while other students need special supports and accommodations to help them be successful. While these things are challenges for some students, all of my students are eager and excited to learn and grow. I want to help foster that excitement beyond the first day of kindergarten to set my students up for a lifetime of learning and growth!
Flexible seating helps students to find seating options that help them better focus on what we are doing in the classroom. Not all students learn the best from sitting in a traditional classroom chair and not all learning experiences require sitting in a chair either! Flexible seating gives students options and also allows students to get some "wiggles" out in healthy and productive ways. With these wobble stools and wobble cushions, students can get out some energy so they are better able to focus, participate, and learn!
In addition to helping students focus, these flexible seating options also help us to have more variety in how the students sit together within groups.
With these seating options, students can sit together more collaboratively when working together. The wobble cushions can also be used at our whole group carpet area too!
