Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My class is comprised of 10 girls and 5 boys. They are such a loving class. They come to school excited to learn each and every day! They always have smiles on their faces! They love learning and are so excited for any activity we do! I do lots of center based activities that allow them to move around. I allow them to stand up and work at other tables as well. They are very energetic and move around a lot. This is my first year as a classroom teacher. I did not have many supplies and furniture in my room. I already spent over a thousand dollars on supplies for my room. My students are worth it though! I would love to have flexible seating in my classroom! This seating would allow them move around while completing a task. Right now, I just have colored chairs (the standard classroom chair) I want to test the waters and bring in bright colorful seating that allows my students to move. On my list below, I have bean bags for my reading area and wobble chairs for my small group table.

My Project

My students are such an energetic group of students. I have 20 students in my class. Right now I have the standard classroom chairs and it does not allow them to move around and focus. I would love to have wobble chairs around my kidney table. That is the table I do small group work around. I would also love to have circle mats for my students to read. Right now my students can’t not focus on regular standard chairs. They fall asleep and fall off them. I cannot afford to get all wobble chairs for my student school but if I just had them for my back table, that would be amazing!
