I teach pre-k in a rural public school. In my district I am the only pre-k teacher so I am lucky that I get all of the students for their very first year of school! This is such an important job to me because I get the opportunity to set their school foundation and prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Every year is a new group of kiddos with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and interests. What I love most is that pre-k students have the mindset that they are capable to do anything with a little encouragement from their families and teachers! Every morning they come in full of energy, a smile on their face, and ready to learn! There are days that we learn to write our name and others we get to watch "hot lava" explode from volcanoes!
The excitement on a pre-k child's face when they do something for the first time can make anyone's day, especially mine.
For some this might mean reading words and for others it may be writing the first letter of their name. No matter what it is we celebrate! We celebrate the process it took and we celebrate the goal reached!
My Project
The flexible seating options that I have chosen will allow my students to focus on learning while being able to get out their wiggles! We all know that young students really struggle with sitting still even when they are excited about learning. My hope is that flexible seating will increase their focus!
We have a busy classroom this year with a lot of energy and drive to learn!
We can successfully get our wiggles out while focusing on the teacher with our wobbly chairs and balance chairs! I have chosen many different options so that our students have choice in what will make them ready to learn this year.
