Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 19 students in my bilingual kindergarten class. The 10 boys and 9 girls all speak Spanish as their native language and attend a Chicago Public School.
Young students, especially kindergarteners, learn best when they feel comfortable in their learning environment.
Furthermore, many students are kinesthetic learners. This means that they learn better when they are physically engaged and moving around. In order to accommodate my kinesthetic learners during reading and other small group centers and activities, I need flexible seating options. Thank you in advance for helping my students learn and grow.
My Project
Kindergarteners enjoy exploring their learning environments. However, a classroom can be an intimidating and restrictive place for young students who are experiencing school for the first time.
My flexible seating project will make my classroom accessible for all of my students, especially the kinesthetic learners.
First of all, the bean bag seats will make my library a more relaxing and comfortable reading space. Secondly, the floor table and comfy floor seats will provide a more accessible and structured listening center. Last but not least, the automatic ball inflator and balance ball seats will intrigue students and make guided reading a fun experience.
