My students walk into class everyday with a hunger to learn!
I teach at a school in West Virginia where 85 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. Making learning fun and exciting keeps them interested in school.
My Project
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Flexible seating is about giving our students choice and power over where they learn and work. It’s giving the students more control of their learning and making it easier for little bodies that can not always sit at tables for long periods of time. The purchase of the wobble chairs will help those students that are moving constantly. I have Autistic and ADHD students that would benefit from this type of seating. The lap desks will make it possible for students to choose where they do their work thus giving them ownership of their learning. The stackable chairs are another option for students that would be more comfortable working from that choice. Flexible seating helps to establish a comfortable and engaging learning environment. Students are able to collaborate and move in their learning. Research shows that when students are comfortable and have control over their learning, it is good for their minds and bodies.
