This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in East San Jose. A majority of my students are first-generation Americans with hardworking immigrant parents. Seventy percent of the students at my school are receiving free or reduced-priced lunch.

I teach a wonderful group of kindergarten students.

My students are hard working and enthusiastic learners. They are easily motivated and enjoy attending school every day. They are always excited to try and learn new concepts. My students inspire me every day to be a better teacher.

My Project

Creating a comfortable and soft reading corner is essential in promoting reading for my little kindergarten students. I am requesting a Natural Accents Ocean Classroom Carpet that my students can use as a reading corner. I want to provide my students with different flexible seating while reading. They will love laying and curling down on the carpet, with pillows and beanbags to read. We will also use this carpet in morning meetings and during read alouds. This carpet will help create an engaging and loving environment that will help make reading and learning fun. Your support is greatly appreciated.
