Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in the heart of Los Angeles in Korea Town. Our school uses the pilot school model to create a progressive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

We welcome and build on this diversity by offering Dual Language learning in both Korean and Spanish.

We also offer Mandarin supplemental programs. This is all in an effort to build a global perspective for our students and their families. We believe that by knowing the world and the richness of different cultures, we will build a global citizen.

My Project

Five year olds have lots of energy and creative abilities! They deserve the opportunity to work outside the limitations of their traditional desk and rigid chairs. Flexible seating allows students to make choices about where to work and build independence. I have students with special needs who will benefit from varied seating spaces and mobility in order to learn best. Students will also be able to build collaborative skills and open up their imaginations with this new classroom furniture. Can you picture them cozying up to a book on a floor pillow? Pretending to run a restaurant on their play kitchen? Playing learning games on ball seats with friends? They'll be on their way with your generosity.
