My students need seating options other than desks! Whether it be at a table with moving chairs or comfy seats or in a bean bag, it's all about choice!

My Students
My classroom represents a melting pot of America: there is no dominating ethnicity, no dominating gender. Out of my 150 students in my high school math classroom, I have three autistic students, two transgendered students, one blind student, eleven students with IEPs (Individualized education plans), and forty-eight students who have English as their second language.
This school year, I introduced *some* flexible seating, purchasing three comfortable chairs and a end table and carpet pieces to create a relaxed area for students to sit in.
They loved it!! I would like to extend that area to encompass most, if not all of my classroom and DITCH THE DESKS! Studies show that he benefits are vast when it comes to classroom design/flexibility.
My Project
Our students need choice and flexibility!! If we truly want to get the best from our students, we need to offer an environment that is conducive to that. What is that? It is called Flexible Seating. Studies have been done and the results are great--students are more effective in a classroom that offers flexible seating than rows of student desks.
Who wants to sit in a desk all day?
I sure wouldn't want to! While I will still offer a few of the regular classroom desks, I would like to offer options: standing desks, comfortable seating (chairs and couches), tables, bean bags, etc.
