All children can learn if strongly supported and enthusiastically encouraged. I believe when a learning environment with high expectations of achievement is introduced, perpetuated by the classroom teacher and supported by the school and community, students cultivate an "I CAN DO IT" attitude and perform to and beyond expectations despite challenges they may face.
I would love for our classroom to be a place where they can be anything and do anything!
By integrating more flexible seating into our classroom, my students will hopefully be more comfortable throughout the school day and then be able to perform to the best of their ability. Your support in helping with this project is very much appreciated!
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they may choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Students may choose to work in a variety of locations in the classroom such as: sitting at different tables, reading/working on the couch, or sitting or laying on the carpet area. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
The padded cushion stools will allow my students to have another option for flexible seating especially during guided reading groups. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that need that additional option. They can also be used as an alternative seat if needed throughout the day! I hope that the additional seating options will help my students feel more comfortable throughout the day!
