First grade is a year of extraordinary growth for students. Students are getting the chance to explore and cultivate their identities as readers, writers, artists, scientists, mathematicians, and as people. As my students have continued to grow throughout this year, I have been able to witness them discovering their strengths and persevering through challenges, both academic and otherwise.
Seeing my students' love for each other gives me hope for our future.
The students in my class have come from a variety of backgrounds (racial, economic, and religious), but they all view each other as equals. The way they advocate for one another is something I wish more of the world would emulate. Please help me support them in their learning, just as they support each other.
My Project
The flexible seating options I am requesting for my classroom will provide my students with more choices in where to sit and work during the school day. Currently, all of my students are working in traditional desks and chairs. While this option is comfortable for some of my students, others struggle with safely staying in their seats while working. These options will give students safe, comfortable alternatives to traditional desks.
These seating options will give students the chance to take ownership of their learning within the classroom by giving each child the chance to choose where they will best be able to learn every day.
