Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are as excited as I am to start the school year! I work in an inner-city elementary school in Huntington Park. Over ninety-four percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of my students come from low-income families and are learning English as a second language.
Flexible seating for future leaders will allow my students to learn, discover and explore.
Students at my school are scholars, readers, and lifelong learners. With it being their first time in school, I want to make sure that the classroom can be a safe and welcoming environment that is conducive to learning.
My Project
All of our students want to learn and explore. Flexible seating in the classroom allows students to choose where they want to work and learn. Students get the option of reading or writing on a bean bag, scoop chair etc. All the reading I've done on flexible seating shows that it helps increase student motivation and engagement. I've spent my own money slowly building up flexible seating options in my classroom. With your help, I'll be able to add more fun and unique seating and working options to complete our collection. The scoop chairs and couch will help students have multiple options for seating. The box seats will allow students to sit down in any spot in the classroom! The tables will allow students to work sitting or standing. Again, your help will ensure that every student gets to do their best work in a comfy and cozy spot!
