This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Everyday, my co-teacher and I have over 60 eager scholars that come to our classroom in Southeast DC ready to learn. Our fourth graders have an incredible thirst for knowledge and they love to take their learning into their own hands. With the proper classroom resources, I have seen them achieve and surpass their goals in both reading and math. Each new school year, I have the privilege to relive that experience. I am continually seeking new ways to push my group of fourth graders to expand the horizon of their knowledge and reach for their dreams with confidence and persistence.

My Project

Many of my students would benefit from having a few flexible seating options in the classroom. My scholars are bright but are occasionally distracted by their need to move. After researching flexible seating, I believe that introducing flexible seating options would allow my scholars to focus on their work while allowing them to find comfort in the classroom.

I believe that as a teacher, my job is to meet my students where they are.

Some of my students need seating options that go beyond your traditional classroom seating arrangement. With your help, my scholars will receive exactly what they need so they can focus on excelling this school year.
