My students need a round floor table with the comfy seats to allow them to work together in a small group or to work independently at a comfortable, floor level table.
My school is located in a hidden, somewhat rural area of a large county. We are a small, close-knit community school with less than 500 students. Many of our families have sent two or three generations through our school. We have a strong sense of community, it is truly unparalleled how our school community can come together for the common goal of helping our students grow. Our students deserve nothing but the best!
What my class has in common is they are a group of creative, eager to learn, kind and hardworking kids!
My class is a second grade with a diverse mix of individuals. There are some students in the classroom who are still developing their knowledge of the English language and students who are in need of enrichment and challenging activities! My students are eager to please and routinely follow our motto to be respectful, responsible, and safe every day.
My Project
Classrooms have changed from students sitting at desks doing their work to classrooms filled with flexible seating. Classroom teachers have been providing their students with this alternate seating options because this option allows students to choose where they work, promotes physical health by allowing children to move, and increases learning engagement. Students almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and complete more work than when they are just sitting at their desk.
If you were to walk into my classroom you would see second graders working on the rug, sitting on yoga balls, reading together on peanut chairs and quietly wobbling on wobble chairs at their desks.
Throughout the day these children find spots around the room that work best for their own individual learning. At this time I don't have enough flexible seating options available for the class. I would like to add more seating options for the floor including a small floor table with comfy floor seats and beanbag chairs. A child might choose to lay on the rug reading books during reading workshop, sit at a desk to write during writing workshop, stand at a tall desk during math workshop, and sit on a beanbag to do their social studies work.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more! Thank you for your support.
