The students in my school are hardworking leaders who strive to do their best in the classroom, the community, and at home. As part of a large district, our students face many challenges. They rise to them, however, with grace and a hunger for success and knowledge.

My Project
Think of how you used to do your homework--was it at a dining room table? A kitchen counter? On your sofa? Sprawled on the carpet in your bedroom? What worked best for you? The days of sitting at a desk in a row in a crowded classroom are long gone. Research shows that students excel better in situations which offer them flexibility and comfort. My students will benefit from having various options—such as barstools, Wobble chairs, and yoga balls with bases—to help them focus, as well as encourage their feelings of warmth, safety, and physical ease. Students in elementary/middle school need the opportunity to move around often, and providing them the chance to make their own choices and stay accountable for their learning is a great way to help them transition into their high school years.
