I teach 68 gifted and talented students in an inner-city school. They all have very diverse and unique interests and they love to learn about things they may not typically see in their general education classroom.
These students typically have very high IQs and perform higher than the average student their age on national testing.
Many of them ache to be challenged and need very detail-oriented lessons to grab their attention. A large number of them learn by experience, so kinesthetic learning makes a huge difference in their ability to process higher-level information.
My Project
We have outgrown our super-small classroom this year and will be moving to a larger classroom with more space for learning! I would love to create a Chromebook area with floor seating, a larger library area, and raised table seating for maximum movement.
My students stay with me for three years and I would love to maximize the areas that they have to work comfortably since this is so much like their home.
We do many group projects and hands-on science experiments. I have found that their learning comes easiest when they feel their environment is set up specifically for their success.
