My students are a strong and resilient group of learners. Our school aims to provide a sense of security and community to students who have often previously felt as though they did not belong.
I teach at a therapeutic elementary school for students who struggle with the social, emotional, and behavioral demands of a traditional public school setting.

My Project
I am requesting donations to provide my learners with flexible seating options. In addition to traditional classroom furniture, flexible seating would allow my students the opportunity to complete their work on a comfortable floor space created by a giant comfy pillow. For those learners who need movement in order to remain regulated, a balance stability ball would provide an ideal seating option.
Flexible seating allows students with diverse sensory needs the freedom to chose a learning space that will help them succeed.
Flexible seating promotes self-awareness and advocacy and requires students to evaluate the types of settings in which they are the most successful.
Flexible seating is a small way of providing choice to learners who so often feel they have little control over so many things in their lives. I appreciate your consideration in donating to my incredibly deserving group of students!
