Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am going to be teaching an incredibly diverse group of 5th grade kiddos this year and we would love your help! Even though I haven't met them yet, I know they are going to be a very passionate, driven, and social bunch based off the comments their 4th grade teachers left me. The majority of the students in my classroom speak a native language other than English at home; in fact, our district actually has approximately 74 different languages and dialects spoken among students and their families in their homes!
Nearly 75% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and although this certainly doesn't define my kiddos or their families, it does explain the need for outside donations to support our classroom!
We currently have very limited seating options in our room, so your donation would help provide my students with an environment that is most suitable for my students' individual needs to be able to learn.
My Project
It's no secret that students have different abilities and learn in different ways. These flexible seating options will allow my students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them and their learning throughout the day.
My students need more flexible and comfortable seating options in their classroom to enhance their learning and focus.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them, which can be a little difficult to do when you only have desks and chairs in the room. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating, rather than requiring students stay seated and complete work at their desks.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The Flex-Space floor seats and wobble cushions will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
