This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school in the heart of Kansas City. All of our students qualify for a free lunch and breakfast. We are a charter school that serves students who live in the city, and we develop these students into leaders using the Leader in Me program. Our school believes in our students and are committed to providing them with unlimited opportunities.
I hold very high expectations for my students, and my classroom is highly focused on student centered learning.
I encourage my students to set goals for themselves and to take responsibility of their own learning. My students are hard workers and are inspirational to me every day.
My Project
Our classroom will be a coteaching classroom this school year with an increase in our class size. We are shifting from traditional seating for independent learning to a more collaborative structure with flexible seating. Students will have options of tables and desks at different heights as well as lap desks and clipboards for students who prefer learning away from a table. The setup of the room will encourage students to work together with their peers. The seating options will provide our students with choice which will increase engagement during learning. I have purchased several seating options but I need help with these yoga ball chairs. We appreciate any support you can give because these leaders deserve the very best!
