Do you remember going to school and sitting in perfect rows? Many of us have that same memory. A lot has changed since many of us went to school. Students today love to participate in active, hands-on, and engaging activities.
My students are creative, curious, and eager to learn.
Our school is located in Atwood, Illinois. Atwood is a small, rural town in central Illinois. There is not a lot to do in Atwood so the students need to be creative to find things to do.
This project is intended to help the students learn to be more creative by giving them choice.
My Project
Having a student-centered classroom means your room will resemble how 10-year-olds feel most comfortable. Flexible seating has several benefits. Some of those benefits are collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Having the stability balls, bungee chairs, and other types of chairs will give the students a chance to learn how to make the right choice. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to be focused and productive.
Children also need to move.
Flexible seating allows them to rock, bounce, lean, and stand. This increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. Physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
